Kevin Henry: Dedicated to Your Success

When you think of a business and financial lawyer, the first image you see is probably not a guy spending days in a freezing unheated warehouse searching for documents to prove dishonest conduct. But Kevin Henry did that in a case against the FDIC, and it helped recover millions of dollars for a small Kentucky bank. For Sturgill Turner’s most experienced business litigator, that’s the kind of dedication and thoroughness he brings to all his cases, whether for a family business, public corporation, nonprofit or individual.

This year, Kevin was named the U.S. News Best Lawyers 2021 “Lexington Lawyer of the Year” in Banking and Finance litigation for the second time, and has been named “Lawyer of the Year” in Trusts & Estates and Bankruptcy litigation as well.

“I believe my professional credibility helps clients. I have businesses and individuals that I’ve represented for more than 35 years, who treat customers, employees, and strangers well. That is their key to success, and it’s my job to support them.” — Kevin Henry

“As an undergrad, I loved economics, and then corporate finance in law school. My mother’s brothers were lawyers, and I enjoyed debate in high school. Law was the perfect fit. I still enjoy reading new cases and going through boxes of paperwork, whether in a lawsuit or a business acquisition.”

After graduation, Kevin was fortunate to clerk for Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John S. Palmore, a legal icon who was well known for his deep, melodic voice and brilliant legal mind. “He taught me the joy of research and analysis, and the importance of precision in writing. I still love appellate practice.”

“Once I entered private practice, I learned that to be a personal injury or criminal defense trial lawyer, you need some thespian in you. That was not me. Financial and fiduciary cases and advising clients are my strengths.”

Kevin’s clients trust his honest, fair work and loyalty. At the same time, he has a deep respect for the law and is known to take seriously his duty of candor to the courts. He is in regular communication with clients and their accountants about changes in the law and their business, and will always tell them what they need to hear, even if it may not be what they want. “They know I am interested in their long-term success and their good reputations.”

“I believe my professional credibility helps clients. I have businesses and individuals that I’ve represented for more than 35 years, who treat customers, employees, and strangers well. That is their key to success, and it’s my job to support them.”
