Jay practices with the Business Law Practice group, focusing on entity formation and governance, intellectual property, healthcare compliance, and estate planning.
Jay has worked in numerous roles enhancing his understanding of business, intellectual property, life sciences and public policy. Throughout law school, he served as a Graduate Fellow in the University of Kentucky Office of Technology Commercialization where he conducted market assessments, evaluated the patentability of technologies, and researched licensing information for University researchers. He conducted Medicaid audits and compliance research with a health information technology firm, and clerked with a full-service law firm in Bowling Green, Ky., and with Chief Circuit Judge Samuel Spalding (11th Circuit).
Before attending law school, Jay earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural and medical biotechnology, interned in the Kentucky Legislature, and served as the Wendell H. Ford Graduate Fellow at the Council of State Governments.

Community
In addition to his interest in business law and biotech, Jay has served his community from a young age. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement only reached by four percent of all Scouts, completing his service project of restoring the rustic amphitheater in Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve in Harlan County. He has also served as a youth life skills mentor through The First Tee of Pine Mountain.
