Tim Wills: Helping Plan for Your Future
Looking for an attorney to help with your business setup, plan your estate, administer a trust, or more? How about one who was sworn in as a special judge long before he even became an attorney? Tim Wills has always been ahead of his time, and brings his business knowledge and analytical skills to protecting his clients’ business and personal assets and helping them plan for their future.
This year, Tim was named the U.S. News Best Lawyers 2021 “Lexington Lawyer of the Year” in construction litigation for the third time, and is a SuperLawyers honoree in numerous areas of the law, including Estate Planning and Probate.
“I truly appreciate the trust and confidence my clients have in me to allow me the honor of representing them. I will always be available and attentive to their needs, and do my best to ensure their estate plans are a perfect fit for them and their families.” — Tim Wills
From simple wills to estate plans with trusts to complex litigation and estate property transactions, Tim represents clients in all areas of estate planning and trust or probate administration. His experience, along with his dedication to learning all he can about his clients, their families, and their businesses, gives him a thorough understanding of fiduciary duties. “One of my favorite parts of my practice is getting to know our clients, and helping them decide how their estate planning goals can best be accomplished. Serving clients and their families is the best part of being a trusts and estates attorney.”
Tim discovered at a young age that he wanted to become a lawyer after studying civics in high school. “We also had family friends who were lawyers but I especially admired Judge William B. Ardery, our Circuit Judge who was also a neighbor and close family friend. When our high school civics class attended the beginning of a trial in the Bourbon Circuit Courtroom, Judge Ardery called me to the bench and swore me in as a special judge to call the case and attorneys to order. I like to tell people I was a circuit judge before I was an attorney.”
Tim’s clients trust his detailed work and professional knowledge. “I love analyzing and solving complex issues. That’s important across practice areas, but it’s particularly important when working with someone on their estate planning. I can employ my problem-solving techniques to create unique plans to help see clients through major life events and planning for future generations.”
In addition to helping his clients care for their future, Tim has also been instrumental in ensuring the legal profession provides legal services and education to the community for years to come. He led the founding of the Fayette County Bar Foundation, and serves as its immediate past President and a Founding Fellow. As the charitable giving arm of the Fayette County Bar Association, the Foundation provides grants to ensure legal services are provided to the poor and indigent, provide law-related public education and to continuously improve the judiciary, the legal profession, and citizen access to the justice system.
This care and attentiveness to clients and the law make Tim stand out in his field. “My favorite thing about my clients is the trust and confidence that they have in me to allow me the honor of representing them. I will always be available and attentive to their needs, and do my best to ensure their estate plans are a perfect fit for them and their families.”
