Scott Miller Presents on Critical Incidents to Newport, Campbell County

Municipal and police law attorney Scott Miller presented key information on responding to critical incidents to Newport and Campbell County (Ky.) police chiefs and administrators, city legal staff, prosecutors, and others on March 27, 2023. City of Newport Chief of Police Christopher Fangman invited Scott to address the group as part of the department’s due diligence in “doing the best we can to prepare for an officer involved shooting incident.”

“Scott is widely regarded as the most important person, throughout the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky, to be in a police officer's corner when involved in an 'Officer Involved Shooting',” said Chief Fangman. “Scott was more than helpful to make this tabletop conversation happen as we all walked through what to expect, as well as the proper way of handling any given situation. Scott, alongside Kentucky State Police 'Critical Incident Response Team', Captain Scott Lengle, were as professional as professional can be as they discussed and answered questions to very difficult and important scenarios.”

Chief Fangman shared that he received a lot of great feedback about the presentation, and appreciated the clarity Scott offered on multiple subjects.

Scott’s 24 years of law enforcement experience means he knows first-hand the issues surrounding legal issues involving police officers, and his depth of litigation and defense experience make him uniquely qualified to advise officers and departments on responding to difficult situations, and helping prevent them from happening. He works hard to minimize the disruption that litigation can have on a police officer’s ability to effectively enforce the law and protect the community.
